AEM Developer Salary Guide: US, UK, Germany, Australia & UAE (2026)
One question I get from almost every student, no matter which country they’re in: “what can I actually expect to earn as an AEM developer?” The honest answer is that it varies a lot by country and experience level — more than most single-source salary articles let on. So here’s a grounded look across five markets, with the caveat that these figures move fast and are meant as a starting point, not a quote.
Think of experience level as the real multiplier
Across every market below, the gap between an entry-level AEM developer and a senior architect is usually bigger than the gap between countries at the same experience level. Certifications, cloud-native (AEM as a Cloud Service) experience, and architecture-level skills consistently push people into the top of each range — location is only part of the story.
United States
Public salary data clusters AEM developers into roughly three tiers: entry-level developers around $60,000–$90,000, mid-level developers around $90,000–$120,000, and senior developers at $120,000–$150,000+, with architects and specialists sometimes going higher depending on the employer and location. Contract and consulting rates can push meaningfully above these bands for short-term, high-demand engagements.
United Kingdom
Solid permanent-salary data for AEM specifically is harder to find than for the US, but UK contract rates for AEM developer roles have been quoted around £350–£400 per day, which annualizes to roughly £91,000–£104,000 for a full contracting year. Permanent roles typically sit somewhat below contract-equivalent rates, as is standard across UK tech contracting versus permanent employment.
Germany
Germany has some of the more consistent published data: average AEM developer salaries sit around €63,859 per year, with entry-level developers (1–3 years) around €44,631 and senior developers (8+ years) around €72,657. Germany’s ranges tend to be tighter than the US or UK, with less dramatic separation between mid and senior levels.
Australia
Australian data is the most inconsistent of the five markets — one source puts average AEM developer pay around AUD 165,000, while another shows a much lower band of roughly AUD 37,000–74,000. That’s a wide enough gap to suggest the sources are measuring different things (possibly total compensation vs. base salary, or including/excluding contract rates), so treat any single Australian figure with real caution and cross-check against current local job listings.
UAE (Dubai)
AEM-specific salary data for the UAE is sparse. As a proxy, general software engineer total compensation in Dubai averages around AED 326,897 (roughly AED 240,000–440,000), which gives a rough sense of the market band — AEM specialists with in-demand cloud and architecture skills would typically sit toward the middle-to-upper end of a comparable range.
What actually moves the needle
Across all five markets, the same handful of things consistently correlate with higher pay: AEM as a Cloud Service experience (versus only on-prem/AMS), an Adobe certification (AEM Sites Developer or Architect), hands-on Edge Delivery Services skills, and experience integrating AEM with Adobe Experience Platform tools like RTCDP or Adobe Target.
Where to start
If you’re building toward the senior end of any of these ranges, our AEM Developer & Architect course covers the full path from fundamentals to cloud-native architecture — the exact skills that show up in every market above.
